Leveling Up Diplomacy, FDI is Ready to Enhance the Arabic Proficiency of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Diplomats

The Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah (FDI) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held an audience with the Center for Education and Training (Pusdiklat) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) at Hotel Mercure Sabang. The meeting, held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, aimed to explore collaboration in developing Arabic language competence for diplomats, particularly new Civil Servant Candidates (CPNS) of Kemlu, to support their strategic roles on the international stage.

Representing FDI were Dr. Fatihunnada, MA (Vice Dean III), Dr. Mu’min Roup, MA (Vice Dean II), and Ahmadi, S.Ap., M.S.I (Head of Administration). On the other side, the Pusdiklat delegation was led by its Head, Mohammad Kurniadi Koba.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed the potential for collaboration on two main agendas. The first was the implementation of an Arabic language training program tailored to strengthen the proficiency of diplomats, especially CPNS Kemlu, in mastering Arabic relevant to their diplomatic duties. This program aims to provide added value in addressing global challenges requiring deep understanding of cultural and international communication.

The second agenda focused on the establishment of an Arabic language club as a platform for diplomats to enhance their communication skills. This club is designed as a space for discussions and intensive training aimed at improving the capacity of diplomats to address contemporary issues, particularly those related to the Arab world.

As a sign of commitment to this collaboration, Pusdiklat requested FDI to promptly prepare and submit a formal proposal regarding the two initiatives. This proposal will serve as the foundation for planning and ensuring the programs proceed as scheduled in May and June 2025. The meeting concluded with a playful yet meaningful message from the Head of Pusdiklat, “The quicker, the better. Let’s not delay or overcomplicate things!”
