Active in Organizations, Vani Wins Best Graduate Title in the Non-Academic Field
The Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah (FDI) at UIN Jakarta held the graduation ceremony for the 123rd batch (66th) on Thursday, February 24, 2022. During the event, Vani Yulia Rosa was recognized as the best graduate in the non-academic field. Vani played an active role in various organizations, contributing significantly since joining the Student Executive Council (DEMA-FDI) in 2017. She was consistently involved in organizing events held by DEMA-FDI, including serving as the head of the Training Leadership program, winning the Best Mentor award for the Academic and Student Culture Introduction (PBAK) FDI twice in a row, volunteering as a delegate for DEMA in the Trash Picker Village, and becoming the first female Vice President of DEMA-FDI in 2019.
Vani expressed surprise at receiving the best graduate award due to her involvement in organizations. She initially joined organizations to develop herself, train her leadership skills, think critically and strategically, and understand global issues. "After joining, I became really happy participating in all the positive activities within the organization. I didn’t expect that being active in organizations would actually become a bonus for me," she said.
Her achievements that led to the best graduate award in the non-academic field include winning 1st place in the National Marching Band Competition for the Floriculture Carnival category in 2017 and 1st place in the National Soleh Soleha Indonesia competition in 2019.
Currently, Vani remains active in several organizations, pursuing a double degree at Universitas Pamulang, and serves as a speaker on organizational matters and problem-solving. During her studies, the young woman from Tangerang made the most of her free time by attending seminars through social media. "Whenever I had free time or after classes, I would visit other faculties to attend seminars, workshops, or training. I believe knowledge isn't only found in the classroom," she explained.
Despite her involvement in various organizations, Vani always paid attention to her academic performance. "I never took my studies lightly, but besides academics, leadership is important too. My GPA should remain good, but we also need to learn how to be part of the community while in college. Spend your youth with positive activities, get involved, don’t wait to be involved!" Vani concluded. (FDI Journalism Team: Lisda Vebi Angelina).
