Dean of Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah UIN Jakarta and Dean of Faculty of Shari'ah Sidi Mohamed University Agreed to Collaborate on Publication and Exchange of Thesis Examiners
On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, the delegation of the Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah (FDI) was received by the Vice-Rector for Research & Cooperation at Sidi Mohamed Bin Abdellah University, Fes, El Mestafa El Hadrami. El Mestafa welcomed the initiative of UIN Jakarta to engage in collaboration and conveyed greetings from the Rector who was currently in France.
In his address, El Mestafa explained that Sidi Mohamed University had secured the top position in Morocco in the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings for five consecutive years. Therefore, research collaboration and publication have been the focal points for Sidi Mohamed. Currently, out of a total of 100,000 students, there are 1,700 international students from 56 countries.
Dean of FDI, Yuli Yasin said that UIN Jakarta is also intensifying research collaboration and publications, even currently in the process of preparing scopus indexed proceedings and can also be accessed by Sidi Mohamed lecturers.
Yuli Yasin added that in addition to research and publication collaboration, the purpose of the FDI delegation's visit was to ensure that FDI students could take part in learning for one semester at Sidi Mohamed University and get transcripts worth 20 credits in the framework of the Merdeka Learning Campus Free student exchange (MBKM) Dean of the Faculty of Shariah, Abdel Malek Aouich responded that his faculty was ready to collaborate with FDI, both in terms of research and publication collaboration and student exchange.
The Faculty of Sharia was previously part of Qarawiyyin University and became part of Sidi Mohamed University in 2015 by decree of the King. Currently, the Faculty of Sharia has 5500 students.
The two Deans have agreed to collaborate on publications, to exchange thesis examiners in the upcoming month of July, and to send FDI students in the academic year 2024/2025 as a form of implementing the collaboration. In addition to the technical discussions on collaboration implementation, the FDI Dean had the opportunity to deliver a public lecture on the theme "The Development of Islamic Studies in Indonesia." The public lecture coincided with the annual Workshop at Sidi Mohamed University, so the audience for the public lecture included not only Sidi Mohamed University faculty and students but also representatives from campuses across Morocco.
At the end of the event, the FDI delegation, consisting of the Dean, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Imam Sujoko, and the Head of the Master's Program, Willy Octaviano, had the opportunity to engage with Indonesian students at Sidi Mohamed University.
