Enhance Students' Entrepreneurial Skills, FDI Holds Soft Skill Training on Ruqyah

The Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyyah at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta organized a Webinar on Enhancing Students' Soft Skills. The event took place online on Thursday afternoon (April 7). The webinar, themed “Becoming a Shariah Healer, A Promising Soft Skill Often Overlooked,” invited speakers with extensive experience in the field of ruqyah. Ustadz Suhendi AlKhattab, M.A., an expert, practitioner, family consultant, and well-known matchmaker, was the speaker for the event.

In the previous year, the Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyyah held various activities to support the development of students' soft skills. However, this year, the focus is on strengthening entrepreneurial skills. In this webinar, the Faculty offered a new perspective on soft skills that many people are now interested in, one of which is ruqyah syar'iyyah.

At the beginning of the session, the Vice Dean of Student Affairs at the Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyyah, Dr. Moch. Syarif Hidayatullah, M.Hum., stated, "This year, the Faculty's programs are focused on strengthening entrepreneurial skills in areas that were previously identified as less promising. Only a few people specialize in these areas, but because they are rare, we understand and see the advantages achieved by those who pursue them," he explained.

As the keynote speaker, Ustadz Suhendi shared that in Indonesia, the world of witchcraft (sihir) remains a fascinating topic to discuss. Many societal issues are caused by disturbances from jinn or witchcraft, making the field of ruqyah very promising. He emphasized that it’s not just about financial gains, but also about the values, as one of the most beneficial and beloved actions by Allah is to bring happiness to others. He illustrated this with examples of individuals who, after being treated through ruqyah, were healed from disturbances or couples who had conflicts but became harmonious again after seeking ruqyah treatment.

Moreover, Ustadz Suhendi explained that ruqyah is also about helping others overcome difficulties, making it a highly beneficial practice. He also shared four essential tips for success in this soft skill: "To ensure success in ruqyah, first, purify your intention for blessings. Second, whatever soft skill you pursue, you must have a teacher, a guide—don’t rely solely on YouTube. YouTube can be used for enrichment," Ustadz Suhendi advised. "Third, you need to strive and exert effort, and fourth, pray a lot. There are specific prayers and dhikr as a protection for you," he continued.

In addition to sharing tips, he also demonstrated the proper method of ruqyah in accordance with Islamic law and how to brand oneself as a ruqyah practitioner or family consultant. He explained that before offering services as a ruqyah practitioner or family consultant, one must have self-confidence, competence, and experience in this field.
