On Wednesday, (25/01), a formal farewell event was held for the delegation team from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, who will represent Indonesia at the Asian Arabic Debating Championship (AADC). The AADC competition will take place from January 29th to February 3rd, 2023 in Muscat, Oman.
The event was led by the Dean of the Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah (FDI), Dr. Mohammad Syairozi Dimyathi Ilyas, Lc., M.Ed and was attended by other leaders, including the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Yuli Yasin, M.A., the Head of the Master's Program Willy Ocaviano, Lc., M.A., the Head of the Administration Division Dra. Lily Fakhriyah, and the debate team coach Al-Abqary Daud Lintang, M.A.
Dr. Syairozi, as he is familiarly called, gave some advice as a provision for the debate team to face the competition as well as preparation by pocketing knowledge about Oman itself. He also advised that the trip to be carried out be used as a stepping stone to dig up information and open relationships with foreigners.
“Please look for as many relationships as possible. Also read about Oman, its leaders, culture, and others. You can also look for information for graduate studies there,” he said.
The delegates are FDI students who are members of the Al-Abqary debate team. The four delegates are Teguh Satria Pendowo (5th semester), Komarudin (5th semester), Suci Amalia (7th semester), and Ahmad Rifai Rohman (7th semester).
According to Suci, the team is scheduled to depart on Friday, January 27 at 2:55 pm using Oman Air from Soekarno Hatta Airport.
“From the schedule we got from the committee, God willing, the plane will take off at 14.55 from Soetta Airport,” she explained.
Based on his statement, their participation is none other than the result of the national Arabic debate competition selection held in December 2021. UIN Jakarta managed to get a golden ticket to participate in the International Universities Arabic Debating Championship (IUDC). Following that, the team received another invitation to participate in AADC.
After giving advice and discussion between the dean and the delegation, the release was closed with a prayer together. With the hope that the team will be given safety and ease in competing. (FDI Journalist Team).
