Visit of MA Al-Kahfi: Why Does FDI Cooperate with Al-Azhar?
On Monday (May 23), the Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyyah (FDI) welcomed a special guest from the Al-Kahfi Islamic Boarding School family, specifically the 12th-grade students of MA Al-Kahfi, Bogor. The event was held in the FDI building's hall, with the goal of socializing and introducing FDI to the 97 participants. The event started at 12:30 PM WIB. The first speech was delivered by the Dean of FDI, Dr. Mohammad Syairozi Dimyathi Ilyas, M.A. The next speech was given by the Vice Dean for Cooperation, represented by the head of the cooperation department, Drs. Rahmat. A speech was also delivered by Agus Khoirul Anwar, Lc. from MA Al-Kahfi.
In addition to introducing FDI to the students, the visit provided an opportunity for them to ask questions about FDI. One of the questions asked by a participant was about the reason behind FDI's collaboration with Al-Azhar University. "Why does FDI cooperate with Al-Azhar University?" asked one of the students. This question was answered by Dr. Yuli Yasin, M.A., who responded, “Who wouldn’t want to collaborate with Al-Azhar?” said the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs. According to him, this university, which has been around for 1082 years, has produced many Muslim scholars worldwide, one of whom is Yusuf Qardhawi. Furthermore, this oldest university in the world remains a center for Islamic studies.
The next question came from a student named Amar, who asked about the job prospects for FDI graduates. “What are the career prospects for FDI graduates?” he asked. This was answered by Dr. Muhammad Khairul Mustaghfirin, M.A., the secretary of the study program. Dr. Moch. Syarif Hidayatullah, M.Hum., the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation, also added that the career prospects for FDI graduates are very broad. Not only can graduates become teachers, but they can also work as journalists, in the Ministry of Religious Affairs, in the Indonesian Embassy, as translators, or even importers of books from the Middle East.
The final question came from a female student regarding the requirements to enter FDI. “What are the requirements to enter UIN Jakarta, especially FDI?” she asked. Dr. Syarif explained that the requirements for admission to FDI include basic Arabic language skills, memorization of the Quran, and knowledge of basic Islamic sciences such as Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, Nahwu, and Sharaf.
After the question-and-answer session, the event ended with a prayer led by Dr. Mustaghfirin and the exchange of souvenirs between MA Al-Kahfi and FDI.
