Yolanda Wins 2nd Place in the Women's Speed Wall Climbing Event at the 1st PTKN 2022 Pesona Competition

Yolanda, a student of the Faculty of Islamic Studies, succeeded in winning a competition at the 1st Religious Higher Education (PTKN) Art and Sports Week (Pesona) 2022. She won second place in the women's speed wall climbing event, held at the UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung campus. During the competition, which took place from August 8-13, 2022, Yolanda competed with approximately 30 participants from PTKNs across Indonesia. She mentioned that this was her first wall climbing competition, and she never expected to win. The student from Padang, class of 2021, shared that her journey to become one of UIN Jakarta's representatives in the wall climbing competition was not easy. She had to go through a selection process by the Indonesian Climbing Federation (FPTI) in South Tangerang, followed by daily training for about three months. Yolanda's victory in the wall climbing competition began with her desire to hike a mountain during her first-semester break. She sought information and connections on how to start climbing mountains. Eventually, she met members of the Arkadia student activity unit (UKM), where she began learning about rock climbing. Furthermore, even though she is a student in the Faculty of Islamic Studies, this did not diminish her enthusiasm for excelling in sports. She emphasized that her involvement in sports has always been a passion of hers, without any coercion. "If we are truly sincere, with genuine and heartfelt intentions, we can certainly succeed. Don’t be pessimistic from the start, and most importantly, keep striving and praying," Yolanda's message at the end of the interview. (FDI Journalism Team: Afaf Luthfiah Azra, Editor: Beliday Maissy).
