Dr. Saepul Anwar Motivates the 135th FDI Graduates: A Diploma Is Not Proof That We Are Learners!

The Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah (FDI) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held the graduation ceremony for its 135th cohort on Friday, February 21, 2025, in the 2nd-floor hall of FDI. This event was a moment of great pride for graduates who had successfully completed their academic journey. The ceremony carried the theme: "Shaping Moderate Islamic Scholars with International Reputation."

A total of 28 graduates were officially released during the event, consisting of 18 undergraduate (S1) and 12 master's (S2) graduates. Several outstanding students received awards for their remarkable academic achievements. The best undergraduate graduate was Najmi Laila Elbasyarah, with a GPA of 3.92, while the best master's graduate was Andi Abdul Razak Darsa, with a GPA of 3.8.

Additionally, special awards were given to the best thesis and dissertation writers. Ahmad Faisal Fahmansyah was named the best undergraduate thesis writer for his work titled Idārat al-Ma‘rifah fī ‘Aṣr al-Dhakā’ al-Iṣṭinā‘ī fī Ḍaw’ al-Tafsīr al-Tarbawī. Meanwhile, Ahmad Zarkasih received the award for the best master's thesis for his study titled Ṣiyagh al-Ījāb Dirāsah Uṣūliyyah Taṭbīqiyyah ‘Alā Mā Warada Minhā fī Sūrat al-Mā’idah.

During the event, FDI invited Dr. Saepul Anwar, MA, as an alumni representative to share his experiences. As an FDI graduate who pursued his master’s and doctoral studies in the Middle East and recently secured a position as a lecturer at FDI through the 2025 CPNS selection, Dr. Saepul was deemed highly qualified to deliver remarks aligned with the event’s theme. He gave an inspiring speech in Arabic, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a lifelong learning spirit, even after obtaining academic degrees.

"A diploma is merely proof that you have studied, not proof that you are a true learner. To prove that you are a lifelong learner, you must never stop learning and never assume you are always right—even when others one day recognize you as a professor," said Dr. Saepul.
