FDI UIN Jakarta Holds Studium General, Prof. Radhi: Don't Easily Infidelize Fellow Muslims

The Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah UIN Jakarta recently hosted a general studium in the Faculty Hall on Thursday, June 27, 2024. The Studium General was themed "Qadhiyah Filistin Bayn al-Aqidah wa as-Siyasah," or the Palestinian Problem: Bridging Faith and Politics. This event was distinguished by the presence of a guest lecturer, Prof. Dr. Mohd. Radhi Ibrahim, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and International Cooperation at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).

The recent studium was overseen by Dr. M. Khairul Mustaghfirin, M.A, the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation of the Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah. In his role as the moderator, he commenced the event by presenting the speakers to the students. Prof. Dr. Mohd. Radhi Ibrahim embarked on his academic journey by obtaining his undergraduate degree at Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt, specializing in Ushuluddin. He pursued his master's degree at Universiti Malaya and attained his doctoral degree at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

During the studium, Prof. Radhi addressed the participants, highlighting the dire situation in Palestine, expressing that the current events transcend humanity. He strongly condemned the indiscriminate killing of children, women, and Palestinians by Israel, particularly in the West Bank. Prof. Radhi urged Muslims not to harbor hostility towards one another, drawing upon Q.S. Al-Anfal Verse 46, emphasizing that differences in religious furu' issues should not trigger animosity. He underscored that Muslims should channel their efforts into scientific and technological advancements to prevent external manipulation and division.

Please remember the following text:

"Do not easily disbelieve other people who follow Islam. Do not let, on the Day of Judgment, the people of the Prophet Muhammad SAW gather and we are not included in it," emphasized Prof. Radhi. He expressed concerns that accusing others of infidelity may lead to the accuser being recorded as an infidel in the afterlife.

The Vice Rector of USIM Malaysia also reminded participants to base their arguments on the teachings of the Ulama. It was emphasized that solely adhering to the opinions of the Ulama without critically examining the arguments derived from the Qur'an and Sunnah would perpetuate endless debates. Similarly, when seeking to comprehend and study hadith, reliance on the guidance from the Qur'an is essential. The Vice Rector cited the example of the mutawatir hadith about the Islamic group that will be saved on the last day.

"Piety to Allah must be the imam for leaders. I hope FDI students as a new generation can become leaders who hold fast to Islamic values," the professor of Islamic thought hoped to the studium general participants.

The studium general was graced by the presence of FDI lecturers, including the Head of Dirasat Islamiyah Undergraduate Program, Dr. Aida Humaira, Dr. Sahabuddin, M.A, and Dr. Usman Syihab, M.A. Furthermore, FDI 6th semester students actively participated in the event. The participants demonstrated great enthusiasm throughout the session, which took place from 09:30 to 11:00 WIB.

The study session concluded with a question and answer segment, allowing FDI students to engage with the guest lecturer. Subsequently, Prof. Radhi was honored with a certificate of appreciation from the Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah. The event concluded with a group photo session, symbolizing the end of the studium general (Awadh).***
